On to Anchorage

Thursday dawned a bright, sunny day--the view from the RV Park in Cantwell. Love the fireweed in the foreground, which grows everywhere in Alaska!
I loved the entrance to the park, especially the wheelbarrow full of flowers! They even had some Alaska scrapbooking stickers in the little store in the office, and the owner and I chatted about scrapbooking for a while--fun!
On our drive along the Parks Highway to Anchorage, we made a few stops. This was the Alaska Veteran's Memorial, where we spent quite a bit of time. Ernie looking at the Navy memorial
Denali Viewpoint South--Mt. McKinley is behind those clouds somewhere!

After driving around Anchorage Thursday night before settling into an RV park, we spent the day Friday shopping in Anchorage. As another camper told us, Anchorage is just another big city! We left Anchorage Friday evening and drove up to Palmer. Saturday we'll drive up the Glenn Highway to Paxson, then along the Denali Highway back to Cantwell before returning to Anchorage and heading further south. It's a bit of backtracking, but we didn't want to miss either the Parks Highway or the Denali Highway. We plan to spend Saturday night in Cantwell again before trekking south.

  1. Hi, I have enjoyed reading about your adventure. I bought my camper a few days after you did from Sean. Sean talked about you two and your trip and sent me the link so I could follow along. It was been great. Please have a safe journey and I look forward to more installments.

    Thanks
